Sylvia Jackson-Roacher was born in Tabor City, NC and raised in Jamaica, Queens. She was the third of five children to Truemiller and Sidney Jackson. Known for her strong will, she often relayed stories of all the joys experienced growing up surrounded with love, warmth and good cooking. A creative, beautiful soul, our mother made her mark as a dedicated secretary at the congressman office. She later served as the manager of the local Farmer’s Market for close to 5 years. She was a talented artist and jewelry maker. Sylvia’s impact was felt wherever she went.
She leaves behind her (6) children Monica, Arthur, William, Tiffany, Kileem and Todd, her (4) grandsons Jameek, Christopher Jr., Javonta, & Christian, son-in-law Christopher Morgan. She also leaves behind to mourn for her (3) sisters, Janet, Geraldine & Zillamae, Sister-in-law Vanessa, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her son, Steven, mother- Truemiller, father- Sidney, nephews, Craig & Rashad, brothers Michael and Kenny.
We are certain they have welcomed her with open arms. Mom we all love you and will miss you dearly, we pray for your soul to find rest- you were a strong, funny, beautiful lady – and will forever be missed.
